The Trees of Light Ceremony is a way to remember and honour our loved ones during the Holiday Season. The lighting of the Trees represents the love that still lives on in our hearts and memories – long after the death of our loved ones.

The Trees of Light Ceremony has always been held on a Thursday night, but this year, due to changes at City Hall, we will be holding our ceremony on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 instead. The time and location remain the same –the Toronto City Hall Rotunda located at 100 Queen Street West at 7:00 PM.

The BFO-Toronto Board of Directors would like to invite you to attend this special evening. The Trees of Light Ceremony is a touching and visible way to cherish and remember our loved ones, an opportunity to share memories and to come together to support each other. The evening unfolds with music, speakers, and poems, followed by a tree lighting remembrance ceremony. It is a truly magical night.

The Trees of Light also raises necessary funds so that BFO-Toronto can continue to offer our grief support programs and services – without charge. Placing a name on the trees is a memorial to our loved ones but it is also an opportunity to “pay it forward”, as all proceeds from the sale of name tags help us to continue to serve our community through our programs.

We hope that you will attend the ceremony, but if you are unable to come, the trees will be on display in the City Hall Rotunda from December 13, 2018, until January 8, 2019.

You can order a name tag online through Canada Helps, by mail (the form can be accessed at the bottom of this page, or in person at the BFO-Toronto office. We try our best to make sure that all the names are correct, but mistakes can happen, please help us to avoid errors by printing clearly on the form, thank you. If a mistake is made we will correct it.

We understand that it is not always possible for everyone to purchase a name tag. If you are unable to purchase a tag but would like to have your loved one remembered, please contact Noah Zavitz at 416-440-0290, ext. 102 or email programsupport@bfotoronto.ca to make arrangements.

Light refreshments will be served and dove-related merchandise, including doves, will be available for sale following the ceremony. We invite you to stay after the ceremony

The Board of Directors and BFO-T staff, look forward to meeting you at the Trees of Light Ceremony.
